The Loersch 2003 Award is to acknowledge a person (or persons) whose dedication and creative efforts have made a difference in raising awareness and bettering the scrapbooking world. This year the Loersch Award goes to Sherrie Brown for all her wonderful efforts and contributions that she has made. Sherrie’s keen interest has given us a better understanding of the Scrapbooking market and the varied creative uses of our products.

Sherrie on behalf of everyone at Loersch Corporation I would like to personally thank you for all your efforts, dedication and insight. You are an integral part of our show team.

Sincerely,

Bob Kreger

Questions & Answers With Sherrie

Favorite colors in the product line
I like all the colors although edge glow is probably my least favorite one to use.  The nice thing about not liking a color is that you can always cover the slide with another piece of paper using double stick tape. This also applies to not having a certain color for a project---you can make your own!  My favorite color would depend upon the time of the year. The earth tones are nice for the Fall and the pastels are nice for using in the Spring. The primary colors can be used all year long. I could find a reason to use every color……all 72 of them!

Favorite subjects
I like to use the Loersch slides in making cards and scrapbook pages.  They are sturdier than the cardboard slides and they are quick and easy to use. It all depends on what I need to accomplish for a project. I am a rubber stamper and find the Loersch slides convenient when making a project.

Interests
I have been making scrapbooks and cards since I was in my early teens. I always enjoyed the surprise on someone’s face when you give them a homemade item. It is worth all of the effort that it took to make it. My first career was Teaching in the secondary level in the field of Culinary Arts and Fashion Design. I retired after 35 ½ years and still like to cook and sew but seem to spend a good portion of my free time doing paper crafts.

The Future of Scrapbooking
Since September 11th,  I think that people have decided to preserve as many memories as they can of their families and friends. Memories are precious. People want to remember good times and this is a perfect way to do it.  I think that the trend will only get bigger in the years to come and everyone will be making items….from small children to  elderly adults.   Everyone will be scrapbooking!

Supporting Products
I like the new solid slides. You can put a few together and use Stazon inks and your favorite rubber stamps and make a picture. They can be attached to a card or a scrapbook page by using Glue Dots or double stick tape. Slick Writers work well on them also. If you want to add some texture to the slides you can use the Creative Hot Marks tool. The possibilities are endless!
